Karen Strauss

She is a veteran pilot and the leader of a combat unit.
She is not very interested in other people, and does not show much interest in anyone.
She speaks bluntly, but when she talks to her superiors, she uses proper honorifics.

She has no interest in or admiration for the hero, and just sees him as the new vice-captain of the ship.

In fact, she is also an internal investigator who checks the ship for any irregularities, but only the captain, Lydia, knows this.
