He created the homunculus to be a better partner for humans and make them happy. However, he was betrayed by his best friend, and the homunculus was decided to be use as a weapon for the war. Thus, many homunculi were created and sent to the battlefields.

Due to the fact that his creation was used for the war, he was in despair. In addition, since the creation of a single homunculus required a large amount of money, the government imposed heavy taxes which caused the people to suffer, and made him feel guilty.

Because of this "guilt", he thought that his presence would make the people, and even the homunculi unhappy, so he decided to avoid contact with anyone and return to his hometown, a fishing village. He has been living in seclusion since then.
