Iyesa Nosa was a Sergeant in the Nippon Imperial Army. He was dining at La Carneval when John Wilson was murdered, and testified as a witness in Ryunosuke Naruhodo's trial for the crime.

Spoiler

Iyesa found his salary as a soldier lacking, especially when it came to providing for his infant son Aido. Because of this, he resorted to stealing from the wealthy patrons of La Carneval; every three days, he would eat at the restaurant and look for something valuable to steal. On the day of Wilson's murder, Iyesa stole a Hoei-era coin from antique dealer Kyurio Korekuta, and hid the coin under the steak he had been eating. Before he could escape with the coin, the murder occurred within the restaurant, and detective Satoru Hosonaga prevented him from leaving, as he was a witness. Fearing his theft being uncovered by a police search, while Hosonaga was distracted, Iyesa swapped his plate with one at the table where Wilson had been sitting.

When Iyesa was summoned to court to testify, Hosonaga instructed him to keep quiet about the presence of the British exchange student Jezaille Brett, who had been dining with Wilson, as her potentially being a murder suspect could cause diplomatic problems between Japan and Britain. Nevertheless, Naruhodo, representing himself in court, was able to find contradictions in Iyesa's testimony, leading to evidence of Brett's presence. Naruhodo was also able to deduce Iyesa's theft, itself helping to prove that Brett was Wilson's killer. Some time later, Iyesa was put on trial for his theft.
