Yasaka Io

Io is the steward of the Yasaka household, a lineage specializing in nurturing premium human talent from a young age, later selling these cultivated individuals as 'commodities'. This practice has led the Yasaka family to be shunned by the island's inhabitants, including the Seven Prominent Families, due to the controversial nature of their business.

Despite her youthful appearance, which belies her actual age, Io carries an air of condescension that might puzzle those unacquainted with her. To the casual observer, she appears no older than a child of twelve, yet she has already witnessed the passing of at least five decades.

She thinks Kurou of the Yasaka household's magnum opus, and it brings her great pride as a scientist when the Shiki household decides to have Kurou marry the only daughter of the Shiki.
