Mark

The protagonist, a young hunter of monsters and beasts who, upon witnessing the abuses of the Kingdom's nobles and military class, sets out to find out just how bad things are. He is straightforward, good-hearted, and generally reliable in combat situations. He thinks a bit simplistically, partly due to his upbringing and partially due to his personality. However, as a warrior and hunter he is actually fairly thoughtful and careful. His good nature does not indicate naivete about human nature but rather a firm sense of his own place in the world relative to others and just how closely-linked even the smallest parts of the world around him are.
