She is Charlotte's maid and the daughter of a good family with ties to a family of witches. Despite her connection, Mel has no magical powers.
The political situation between the two countries and the empire has become unstable, and popular fear of a return of the nightmare of the previous war has triggered a medieval-like witch hunt. Mel jumps on a train to protect Charlotte, who is on her way to escape to her aunt's house.
She is extremely polite, intelligent, and erudite. She is certified as a nurse so that if and when Charlotte, who is sickly and frail, is in danger, she can be treated appropriately. While Charlotte acts with sensitivity, Mel always confronts things with logic.
At the age of 13, Mel came to Charlotte's house not as a maid, but as an apprentice to train to be a bride. She's aware of the circumstances of Charlotte's magical powers.
Although her term of service has already expired, she has become so attached to Charlotte that she continues to serve as her maid to this day. She has feelings for Charlotte, who only allows herself to be loved by her outside of the family, similar to those of her own sister, and she is determined to continue to serve her until Charlotte meets a man of her dreams.
The children's books that Charlotte loves to read originally belonged to Mel. She is surprisingly athletic and carries a P08 modified Baby Luger pistol hidden away so that she can eliminate any threat to Charlotte at a moment's notice.
