He was royalty of the Duke's kingdom, but is now a city man, a marquis-turned-count, and works as a town doctor. In spite of this, he is wearing a coat of arms embroidered with the royal family's crest, a saber, a sign of knighthood, and spurred military boots, and is aboard the Magic Arrow.
Why is he silently claiming his royalty, which he himself should have renounced? Who is he claiming it for?
The day before Edmund purchased his express ticket, the Magic Arrow also had a strange configuration. The Trans-European Express is being built with the cooperation of a number of countries. At the request of one of these countries, the Empire, a luxury express train consisting of only power cars and first-class coach cars was to be coupled with a rugged freight car and a third-class hard-sided car.

He wears a pistol saber that has a strange and bizarre shape, a combination of a Borchardt automatic pistol and a Schweitzer saber.
