Santiago is the textbook example of the classic burnt-out gifted child trope, spending a lifetime studying to enter a workforce that would deny him promotion opportunities at every turn. After a few unlucky incidents that left him in a little more debt than he’s willing to admit, the final nail on the coffin was getting laid off from his job one morning. He enjoys a good horror movie or book while talking to his trusted rubber duck, Sir Java the First, when he’s not full of anxiety.
