Kumoi Kyoukichi

Azami Kumoi's father.

Captain of the fishing vessel Dai-ichi Kyosui-Maru. He was among the 10 casualties of the Southern Sea Disaster after his vessel was foundered.
A fisherman who frequently had Azami accompany him out to sea on his boat from a very young age. As a result, Azami grew up never doubting that he, too, would one day become a fisherman. After Kyokichi died, his wife —an ama diver— took on the responsibility of raising Azami and his much younger brother on her own.
Azami is now able to take his father's small fishing boat, the Saiun-Maru, out on fishing trips on his own.
