Madara Yakou

A Head of Onmyouji, serving to Mikado Ryuumei, and an arranged husband for her stepdaughter, Mikado Ryuusui. Despite this marriage being arranged, he loves her, and she loves him back. He has two shikigami, Niko and Teirei. His position as the Head of Onmyouji is only nominal, as it is Mikado Ryuumei herself who manages the work on leading onmyouji and matters like this. This role is not suited for him; he cannot even be called a proper onmyouji. He does not use proper onmyoujutsu. His techniques are unique to him and can not be properly imitated by others. Also, his nature is just not compatible with this kind of work. Therefore, he was said not to do anything. Most of the time, he brilliantly fulfills the directive by indulging in good sake. Still, sometimes he helps Mikado Ryuumei or carries out her tasks.

Yakou did not participate in the Fencing Kagura ceremony, despite being much stronger than all the participants. Instead of it, he watched Ryuusui

and appeared only after the end of the ceremony.

Yakou was a relaxed, quiet, and serene person. When Kyougetsu Sakuya saw his presence for the first time, she said that it was a hole in the space. His love for Ryuusui was rather strange. He loved her like a child, who found joy in observing ants from above. The reason for it was in his nature: he is not simply arrogant but completely distinct from other people, as he deems himself to exist on a completely different level. It was not completely without grounds, since he was a genius at things like onmyouji techniques or learning about fundamental principles of the world, such as taiji.

Still, he had no memories of when he was very young, and he could not see the principle that was determining him. It would have been impossible to paint his taichi in his own color without this. To find his core principle, to discover the truth of the law supporting the world, and to see Hajun, he went to the Eastern Expedition. In the fight with Tenma Ootake, Yakou has finally discovered that his color is death, and that his true desire is to be Yama, one who judges people after their deaths. In the same battle, after perceiving Hajun, he found out that the future he tried to open with his power would be not one with unlimited possibilities, but rather with a massacre, and he changed his ways.

He was brought into existence by Mikado Ryuusui, as an image of ideal spouse, without her even knowing it. On the other hand, his taiji was given to him by Hajun.
