Mrs. Sorata

Chiaki's grandmother and Sumire's would-be mother-in-law, she gets a fresh change of perspective after living alone for a few years. She was never truly a malicious person, simply bad at communicating and a bad judge of character. Eventually she comes to realize that Sumire wasn't some harpy intent on stealing her son and ripping her family apart. While their relationship is still a little shaky, Mr. Sorata has made great strides towards repairing the relationships that she thought she ruined. Sumire and Chiaki both visit her often and she keeps her health even into her 80's and 90's.
