Heinz Axmann

The Stasi’s Chief of Operations, Axmann made a name for himself within the organization hunting asylum seekers at East Germany's border, where he captured, imprisoned or executed thousands. His effectiveness, cruelty and sadism in his persecution of dissidents and spies were legendary even by Stasi standards, influencing the organization.
