Once a princess of a small kingdom, she lost her homeland in childhood when it was annexed during an invasion by the Empire of Ivan.

During the First Mizuho–Ivan War three years ago, she took part in the campaign as the Emperor’s appointed overseer, leading the Imperial Guard Division alongside the commander chosen by the nobility. However, when that commander rashly launched an attack on their own, the battle situation collapsed, forcing the Empire into an untimely withdrawal.

Following the war, the commander was dismissed and Varvara was appointed in their place as commander of the Eastern Expeditionary Army.
