Ayabe Reiko

She is kind, soft-spoken and caring.

She is unable to close the ryokan that has been in operation since his grandparents' time. She is running the ryokan with a small number of people. Because of her position as proprietress, she lives separately from her husband, who works for a well-known company, and her son.

Her husband wants her to close down the inn, which is not in good condition, and settle down at home. Her husband often comes to Reiko and tries to persuade her to close down the inn and settle down with the family, but Reiko is not convinced. She resfuses to listen and says "I just can't close the inn".

she treats the protagonist like a kid, as she herself has an adolescent son.
