Born into poverty in the slums, Minerva experienced firsthand the struggles of living in Helman's economically unstable military nation.

Despite the poor treatment of women within the empire, Minerva was determined to succeed and made a vow at a young age to one day rule the country by any means necessary. Through sheer tenacity and hard work, she managed to join the army and climb up the ranks to become Lieutenant of the Third Army under Thoma Lipton.
