Takano Hifumi is a doctor and the first researcher to posit the existence of a Hinamizawa Syndrome.

Dr. Takano was also the mentor to Tanashi Takemitsu and would adopt his daughter Tanashi Miyoko after his death, saving her from an orphanage. Miyoko would change her name to Takano Miyo in honor of him and assist with the doctor's research.
