Kaito is the only son of the Summer Village chieftain. His ancestor is Enya from the Fire Village. He has an innate ability of wielding fire, and is regarded as a second Enya by the villagers. However, as a genius ninja, he is not happy to be "playing second."
He feels a strong sense of rivalry with the big cities, Spring Village and Fall Village, where villagers look down on his village as "the countryside;" however, their ninja skills are actually on an equal footing.
He doesn't get along with Kikyo.
