--Chapter 1: The Woman

There are urban legends about vengeful dead women attacking people, like "Hikiko-san," "Kaoru-san," and "Kashima-san."
In G Prefecture, a string of cases popped up that felt just like those stories.

The first victim was an elementary school boy. He got dragged through the rain and beaten to death.
The second victims were a couple. A woman had her leg slashed from under a bench.
A third case involved a high school girl who had her ear bitten off and lost her sight.
In the fourth case, a woman’s leg was chopped off with a hatchet.

Different weapons were used each time, but all witnesses said the same thing: "It was a tall woman with long hair in a trench coat."

Saki Houjou transferred to G Prefecture and teamed up with Setsuna Aizen from Homicide to chase down these cases. They soon realized no normal person could have done it.
Why do these four cases line up so perfectly with old urban legends? Is something supernatural at work?

--Chapter 2: Split in half

A bizarre serial killing hit G Prefecture next.

First victim was sawed right down the middle.
The second victim had their torso severed and put on display. Both were sawed apart while still alive and bled to death.

The killer gave both victims Torikabuto (aconite) and Datura, but not enough to kill them outright.

Mitsuko Kisaragi from forensics said these plants symbolized demons, and suggested the crime was some kind of ritual reenactment.
Was it a thrill kill or a human sacrifice?

--Chapter 3: The Idol's Spirit on TV

Everyone started talking when a ghost showed up live on "Utabancho," the national music show.
The ghost was Yuki Kanou, G Prefecture’s local idol. She had died at the TV station just one day before the broadcast.
Rumi Matsuoka (top idol) and producer Sakae Tamade, both of whom had conflicts with Kanou, became suspects. Each accused the other of being behind it.
But while preparing for her memorial show, strange supernatural phenomena kept happening around them both.
Was it Tamade or Rumi? Or perhaps the work of a vengeful spirit?
