A new season, a new place, and a new school life.
From the deck of a large passenger ship, people gaze at Mikumo, the island where their new lives will begin. Among them, a girl in a wheelchair peers out from inside the ship.
The island is a closed-off place, divided by mountains. There are no convenience stores, family restaurants, or entertainment facilities to speak of. In this isolated, network-restricted environment, people are forced to live together in shared rooms with strangers they’ve just met.
“Wow, there’s really nothing here, huh?”
Kimishima Kakeru, who looks more like a boy than a girl, mutters as she stares out the window.
The staff member driving the car glances at her through the rearview mirror, then shifts his gaze to the two girls sitting in the backseat.
Both girls are staring out the window, lost in thought.
The staff member asks each of them why they decided to join this program.
“I wanted to… relearn a lot of things and broaden my horizons, I guess,” Kimishima Kakeru replies vaguely, giving a safe answer. She then sneaks a glance at the girl sitting next to her, who refuses to make eye contact.
Hoshino Ayame clutches her legs tightly.
“I… just wanted to change who I am now.”
