It was the peak of the witch hunts. After witnessing countless heretics vanish into flames, Lawrence, who harbored a sadistic streak, eventually joined the interrogations. Then came an order: interrogate a certain woman. Lady Alicia, a noble’s wife accused of witchcraft — a woman even the church’s inquisitors couldn’t break.
