Daydream Danganronpa is set at Hope's Peak Academy, an institution that scouts elite high school students from across the country to nurture future talent.

The protagonist, Arumi Hayashi, is thrilled to be accepted into the very same academy where her older sister is currently enrolled. She heads to the entrance ceremony filled with anticipation, but what awaits her there is a Killing Game.
