The Free Church of Murkwell prides itself on its hospitality, offering food and shelter to all who enter its doors. The Church's utmost priority is the safety of the town, no matter the cost.

The sparkling pride of the Church is the ministers one and only son – Oliver Kreutz, a quiet, diligent man who studies and prays tirelessly.

One day, the Church welcomes in a peculiar, severely wounded young man named Hansel. He speaks and eats what and whenever he wants, takes what he believes is rightfully his, and prays only when he's a hair away from certain death.

Their two worlds collide, and Oliver finds himself spellbound by Hansel's carefree spirit and the colorful world from which he hails. Hansel, meanwhile, finds himself nestled comfortably under clean sheets, food in his mouth and all-around care with seemingly nothing asked for in return.

That is, until the past resurfaces, bringing with itself the biggest trial Oliver had yet to face. Haunted by surreal dreams, delusions and a wavering conscience, he must find his way back to his normal, quiet life.

But how could he possibly ever do that, when what plagues him is the same thing he yearns to protect?
