After moving to the city and becoming a schoolteacher, the protagonist’s private school shut down due to the ongoing economic downturn.
Stuck without a job and unsure what to do next, he received a call from his father back in the countryside:
"We’re short on teachers because of maternity leave. Come back and help out."
The protagonist had no real desire to return to the rural town, but worn down by the emptiness of his current situation, he decided to take up the offer on a whim.
However, upon arriving home, his father bluntly told him,
"Your old room’s gone. I’ve arranged a place for you at the Toyohira Inn. Go there."
And just like that, he were sent packing.
Reluctantly, the protagonist headed to the inn, where two women were waiting for him…
