Kaneko Akifumi is a game designer who is known for creating the Wild Arms JRPG series from Media.Vision and Sony Computer Entertainment.
He originally worked for Telenet Japan, and in 1993 he and colleague Fukushima Takashi founded Media.Vision.
In 2008, he left Media.Vision and founded Witchcraft with his former Telenet Japan colleague Endou Shoujirou. Kaneko was initially the representative director, but in 2015 Endou took over so Kaneko could work on the Symphogear anime series. In 2021, Kaneko was reinstated as representative director, following Endou's retirement from Witchcraft.
