TAKERU was a software label used by Brother Industries, well-known for their printers, in the eighties. TAKERU did not sell its software over the counter, instead it used vending machines placed in computer shops so that punters could buy their software in a self-service manner. Games were downloaded from a central server via ISDN or read from a spacious CD-ROM and then written to floppy or RAM cartridge. Manuals and labels were printed on a printer installed in the terminal, which explains the rather basic look of TAKERU software.
