After the King was bedridden due to an illness, Gilbert became the regent for Princess Licia, who is too young to govern. Manipulative and cunning, Gilbert uses the impressionable Licia as his pawn to rule the kingdom, and Gau the "Mad Dog" to silence his enemies and anyone who seek out the secrets of the city.
